Close your eyes.

Imagine you are in a room with no doors and no windows. There is nothing in the room but you. It spans out farther than you can see because it is dark. Maybe it only goes on for 5 feet. Maybe 50. You can't tell. You can only see about a foot in every direction from the glow coming up from the ground around you. It's faint. So faint. And it's so easy to get turned around.

Which direction were you facing when you opened your eyes? And where the hell are you facing now? Impossible to tell.

When you close your eyes and feel the area around you, you can tell something is there. Something is watching you. And it does not like you. It has no desire to help or direct. Not even a desire to show itself so you know where it is. It's only purpose is to slow you down.

And you have to get out.

You start to feel cold now. You shiver. Exhaling showers the view in front of your eyes with white misty air that dissipates before you can even remark on it's beauty, as you so normally do when you can see your breath. The air doesn't move, but it stings. It crawls up your back and grabs hold without letting go.

You have to start moving.

It's easy to hear now. The breathing. And it's not yours. It's very hard and guttural and makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Because it's also faint. So loud in the deafening silence because it is so faint. Surrounding you without moving.

You tense up.

As though you can feel that you are about to be hit.

Hit by something so strong you can't even imagine how forceful the blow will be.

You expect to be knocked down with such power that you might black out.

Your back starts to tie itself into knots as your breathing becomes more and more intense.

You hear the breathing that surrounded you before suddenly stop.

You can feel the blow coming.

Here it comes . . .

This is how I feel right now.
